for 1899, with blued octagonal 22 1/4in. barrel signed by the maker and with patent dates to 1894, dove-tailed fore-sight with beaded blade, folding battue rear-sight, slab-sided receiver with loading gate, the top tang fitted with an adjustable 'LYMAN' peep-sight, figured chequered walnut pistol-grip butt-stock of approximately 3x quality with colour-hardened crescent heel-plate, colour-hardened finger-lever, matching chequered walnut fore-end with blued iron nose-cap and three-quarter length under-barrel magazine fitted with take-down catch to the tip, strong amount of original finish throughout
